We are pleased to welcome the following well known and respected international psychologists as Honorary Presidents of The International Society for Coaching Psychology.

President

Professor Stephen Palmer PhD (ISCP Honorary President) is recognized as a leading international coaching psychologist and is the Honorary President of the International Society for Coaching Psychology. He is Honorary President and Fellow of the International Stress Management Association (UK), Honorary Vice President of the Institute of Health Promotion & Education, and Honorary Vice President of the Society for Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. He is Former Honorary President of the Association for Coaching. He is Director of the Coaching Psychology Unit at City University, London, visiting Professor of Work Based Learning & Stress Management at Middlesex University, and Adjunct Professor of Coaching Psychology at Aalborg University, Denmark.  He is also Director of International Academy for Professional Development Ltd and the Centre for Coaching, London. He has authored co-edited 47 books on coaching, coaching psychology, counseling, psychotherapy, resilience, wellbeing and stress management. He is former UK Co-ordinating Editor, now Co-editor of the International Coaching Psychology Review, Consultant Editor of The Coaching Psychologist, and Executive Editor of Coaching: An International Journal of Theory, Research and Practice. He Co-edited (with Whybrow) the first Handbook of Coaching Psychology. He was specialist adviser to the Defence Committee of the House of Commons in their Duty of Care enquiry in 2004-05.In addition, he has over 40 years experience in business and has demonstrated coaching and therapy on BBC television.

Vice Presidents

Dr Giles Burch is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Management at the University Dr Giles Burch is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Management at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, where he teaches on the MBA, is Director of the ‘Strategic General Manager-Human Resources’ programme and conducts research into workplace wellbeing, motivation and performance.  Additionally Giles has over 20 years of experience working as a coach and consultant with individuals and organisations across a range of industries and sectors.  He is a Registered Clinical Psychologist in New Zealand and a Registered Occupational Psychologist in the UK.  Giles is also an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a founding member of the BPS’s Special Group in Coaching Psychology.

Professor Angela Clow PhD is trained in neuropharmacology, physiology and psychology and likes to work at the interface of these disciplines. In 1989 she joined the University of Westminster where she became a founder member of the interdisciplinary Psychophysiology and Stress Research Group. Professor Clow has published over 86 full-length peer-reviewed papers, 2 books, and 24 book chapters or reviews. Angela is a National Teaching Fellow and has been involved in media activities such as a BBC1 series called The Stress Test, where she analysed the physiological effects of living with stress. Angela is an Honorary Vice-President of the International Stress Management Association. Angela is the academic lead of the Health Network of WestFocus, a group of seven west London universities funded by the UK government to work more closely with the local community and businesses.

Professor Cary Cooper PhD is Professor of Organisational Psychology and Health and Pro Vice Chancellor for External Relations in Lancaster University. Professor Cooper was honoured with a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in June 2001. He was elected as a Fellow of the British Psychological Society and honoured by the Society with the distinguished Myers Lecture in l986. Professor Cooper was specialist adviser to the Defence Committee of the House of Commons in their Duty of Care enquiry in 2004-05. In June 2005 Professor Cooper was appointed by the Cabinet Secretary as Chair of the Sunningdale Institute in the National School of Government in the Cabinet Office. He has also been a temporary adviser to two United Nations agencies: the World Health Organization and the International Labour Office on 'Occupational Stress and Health'. He is President of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy with  senior roles in many other organisations.

Professor Windy Dryden PhD is Professor of Psychotherapeutic Studies at Goldsmiths College. Professor Dryden has authored or edited over 160 books for professionals and the general public including books and articles on coaching, counselling, psychotherapy and stress. He is an international leading expert in Rational Emotive and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. He is Patron of the Association for Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy.

Dr. Suzy Green D.Psyc.(Clin), BA(Hons.Psyc), MAPS Dr. Green is a pioneer and leader in the field of Coaching Psychology having conducted a first-ever randomised controlled trial on the effectiveness of evidence-based life coaching. Suzy was the recipient of a Positive Psychology Fellowship Award in 2003 and the first Australian author published in the Journal of Positive Psychology in 2006 based on this research. Suzy has since completed two further studies on evidence-based coaching with senior high school students and teachers as part of her association with the Coaching Psychology Unit, University of Sydney where she lectures on “applied positive psychology”. Suzy is a Registered Psychologist and Full Member of the Australian Psychological Society. Suzy is also a member of the APS Interest Group in Coaching Psychology. Suzy has been instrumental in the training of psychologists in Australia on evidence-based coaching and applied positive psychology. She is Founder of The Positivity Institute in Australia.

Professor Carol Kauffman is an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School, a Diplomate of the American Board of Professional Psychology and a Professional Certified Coach. She is Founding Director of the Coaching and Positive Psychology Initiative at Harvard. Professor Kauffman is the Co-Editor in Chief of the new academic and professional journal Coaching: An International Journal of Theory, Research and Practice.

Dr Travis Kemp, PhD, International Graduate School of Business, University of South australia, Australia. Dr Travis Kemp holds academic appointments as Affiliate Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Psychiatry, School of Medicine, University of Adelaide; Adjunct Lecturer, Coaching Psychology Unit, University of Sydney and Adjunct Research Fellow, International Graduate School of Business, University of South Australia where he was previously MBA Director and Head of the Discipline of Leadership. He is a registered Psychologist and Full Member of both the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the College of Organisational Psychologists. He was a founding national committee member of the APS Interest Group in Coaching Psychology, is co-editor of the International Coaching Psychology Review and has published in the areas coaching psychology, education and leadership. He is also a registered Psychotherapist with the Psychotherapists and Counsellors Federation of Australia. He has held a range of senior business and academic appointments throughout his career and is currently the Managing Director of corporate psychology services firm The Teleran Group Pty. Ltd. He is a Fellow of both the Australian Institute of Management and the Australian Human Resources Institute, a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and a Member of the Australian College of Educators.

Dr Otto Laske PsyD PhD, is Director of Education at the Interdevelopmental Institute. He holds doctoral degrees from the Institute of Social Research, Frankfurt, Germany and from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. In 1998-99, he conducted the first executive coaching study from a developmental perspective, establishing the Developmental Structure/Process Tool (DSPT™) as the focus of coaching methodology.

Professor Roy Moodley PhD, is Associate Professor of Counseling Psychology and Co-ordinator of Centre for Diversity in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Toronto University. It is an interdisciplinary centre dedicated to research and development of multicultural and diversity issues in counselling and psychotherapy, focussing particularly on the stigmatized social identities of gender, race, sexual orientations, class, disabilities, religion, and age. He has published books and articles on a range of topics.

Dr Astrid Palm-Beskow is the founder of Centre for Cognitive Psychotherapy in Gothenburg. She is also Co-founder of adSapiens, the Swedish Centre for Work Based Learning which is a training and coaching centre specialising in cognitive coaching. She is a recognised expert in the cognitive approach.

Professor Nuno Rebelo dos Santos PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology, University of Évora, Portugal. He is a scientific supervisor for a number of PhD and MSc students and teaches on the European Master on Work, Organizational and Personnel Psychology programme (Erasmus Mundus Master).

Professor  Charles D. Spielberger PhD (deceased) was a Distinguished Research Professor of Psychology, and Director of the Center for Research in Behavioral Medicine and Health Psychology at the University of South Florida. In accepting the appointment as an Honorary Vice President of the SCP, Dr. Spielberger said, “I am greatly impressed with this newly developing field and look forward to linking my work on the assessment of emotions and personality with Coaching Psychology”. During his distinguished career Dr Spielberger has authored, co-authored or edited more than 20 books and 400 professional publications. His State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (1970, 1983), with translations and adaptations in 72 languages and dialects, is widely recognized as the standard international measure of anxiety. His research contributions have also been recognized in the awards he has received from Professional Psychology Associations and Research Societies, both at a national and international level. During 1991-1992, Dr Spielberger served as the 100th President of the American Psychological Association. He has also served as President of the International Association of Applied Psychology (1998-2002) and the International Stress Management Association (1992-2000), and as Chair of the US National Council of Scientific Society Presidents (1996-97) and the International Psychology Committee of the US National Academy of Science (1996-2000).

Professor Reinhard Stelter holds a PhD in psychology from the University of Copenhagen and is Professor for Sport and Coaching Psychology at the University of Copenhagen and head of the research group on body, learning and identity. He is head of the Coaching Psychology Unit at the Department of Exercise and Sport Sciences. He has received further training in psychotherapy, counseling and applied sport psychology. He is the author and editor of one of Scandinavia’s most successful books on coaching (published in Danish and Swedish) with the English title “Coaching – learning and developing”. He is member of the Editorial Board of the International Coaching Psychology Review and Associate Editor of Psychology of Sport and Exercise. He is editor and author of ten books and about 150 articles in scientific and research oriented journals or books. He is member of the Managing Board of European Mentoring & Coaching Council (EMCC) in Denmark, member of the Advisory Board of Copenhagen Coaching Center, where he also works as a coach and teacher in the coaching training program. From 2009 this program shall be an accredited Master of Coaching program at the University of Copenhagen, which Reinhard Stelter shall lead.

Vince Székely, PhD, coaching psychologist, Assistant Professor at Eötvös Loránd University Faculty of Education and Psychology. He is the president of Hungarian Psychological Association, Coaching Psychology Section and founder of Hungarian Association for Coaching Psychology. Vince started his career as a counselling psychologist specialized in helping jobseekers. He played an important role in establishing employment counselling services and job clubs in Hungary. He has researched the psychological effects of job loss and recruitment and selection methods of Hungarian employers.
He is trained in solution focused, behavioural and Inner Game methods and he has more than 15 years of experience in delivering executive and team coaching services for senior managers. Vince started to teach coaching psychology at the Eötvös Loránd University’s Psychology Institute in 2005. He established the Hungarian Association for Coaching Psychology in 2008 together with some graduates of this postgraduate course. He also runs a well-known leadership coach training and a coach supervision program in Hungary.

Professor Jinkook Tak is Professor of Department of Industrial Psychology and also Chair of Coaching Psychology Program at Graduate School of Education in Kwangwoon University, Seoul, Korea. He was President of Korean Industrial and Organizational Psychological Association (2003-2005) and Chair of Psychological Test Committee at Korean Psychological Association (2007-2008). He was also a visiting scholar to Department of Psychology at Ohio State University and Michigan State University. He is Certified Industrial and Organizational psychologist and Certified Health Psychologist acknowledged by Korean Psychological Association. Now he is on the Board of Directors of Korean Employee Assistance Program Association, Korean Job Stress Association, Korean Industrial and Organizational Association, and Korean Health Psychological Association. He also has a lot of field experiences as an assessor on Assessment Center for companies as well as government organizations. Professor Tak has been published more than 80 articles on career development, leadership, and job stress. He also has developed a number of career guidance tests for adults financially supported by Department of Labor, Korea.

Dr Pat Williams has been a licensed psychologist since 1980 and began executive coaching in 1990 with Hewlett Packard, IBM, Kodak and other companies along the Front Range. He is a member of PHI BETA KAPPA and CUM LAUDE graduate of Kansas University in 1972. He went on to get his masters in Humanistic Psychology and doctorate in Transpersonal Psychology in 1977. He joined Coach U in 1996, closed his therapy practice 6 months later and became a full time coach. Pat was a senior trainer with Coach U from 1997- 1998, when he started is own coach training school for therapists only, the Institute for Life Coach Training. He has trained over 1500 helping professionals at Inst for Life Coach Training and is now opening offices in Korea, Turkey, Italy, UK, and China. Pat has taught graduate coaching classes at Colorado State University and Denver University, City University London and many others. Pat is a past board member of the International Coach Federation, and co chaired the Regulatory committee as well. In May of 2006, Pat was honored as the first Global Visionary Fellow by the Foundation of Coaching, for his Coaching the Global Village initiative of bringing coaching methodologies to third world/developing villages.

Dr Anna Syrek-Kosowska PhD is a psychologist, therapist and trainer recommended by the Polish Psychological Society, SFA consultant, certified Coach (ICC), MSCP. Partner of www.csipb.pl. For over ten years now, she has been developing, implementing and managing HR projects (including training, coaching and management), working for the largest international corporations and businesses in Poland. An author of curricula and lecturer at post-graduate courses in the field of coaching and training; also, working for many higher educational institutions, such as the Academy of Business in Dąbrowa Górnicza. An author of numerous publications and expert commentaries related to business psychology, appearing in industry-related magazines and other media in Poland

Hugh O Donovan Reg Psychol P.s.S.I is a founding member and Chair of the Coaching Psychology Group (CPG), Division of Work Psychology (DWOP), Psychological Society of Ireland. He is also a founding member of the Special Group in Coaching Psychology. Professionally, Hugh runs a successful work psychology and coaching practice where he engages with both private and public sector clients. Additionally, he lectures part-time in the Applied Psychology Dept in University College Cork where he delivers modules on Designing and Leading OD Interventions along with anchoring the recently developed and soon to be delivered Higher Diploma in Coaching/Coaching Psychology (Level 8). He has recently published a model of coaching for the Irish Coaching Psychology context which is a first in the field. He is also a Director of Poradnia Psychologiczna Dublin (PPD). PPD is an organisation with charitable status set up by a group of Polish Psychologists in response to a demand from immigrants both Polish and Eastern European for Psychological services delivered in their mother tongue and consistent with service models that they would understand. This community based model is currently being rolled out throughout the country.

Dr Silvana Dini is a Chartered Organizational Psychologist, Senior Coach and Management Consultant. From 1985 to 2003, she held managerial roles both in Multinational Companies and Management Consultant firms. Since 2004 she has mainly been involved in Executive and Corporate Coaching programmes developing an individual coaching approach and method for more than 150 Executives, Managers and Key people from various companies. Thanks to this vital experience Silvana is co-author of the book "Coaching alle nuove sfide" (2004). She is also a founding member and professor at Scuola Romana di Psicologia del Lavoro e dell'Organizzazione, one of the oldest Work and Organizational Master programmes in Italy. In addition, she is MSCP, member of ICF and AIDP (Italian Association of Human Resources Directors) too. In 2008 with Grazia Geiger, Alessandra Rosicarelli and Ida Sirolli she started to co-operate with a regional branch of the National Italian Psychological Association to define "Guidelines for the Work and Organisational Psychologist in the practice of Organisational Coaching", approved and published in April 2010. The Guidelines represent the first formal action in Italy aimed at valuing the distinctive contribution psychologists have to offer the field of coaching.

Dr Ole Michael Spaten is a chartered psychologist with a particular area of expertise in coaching psychology and team-building. Ole is both an Academic and Practitioner with 20 years of experience as an organizational consultant and as a teacher and researcher attached to the universities in Roskilde, Copenhagen and Aalborg in Denmark. At Aalborg University, Dep. of Communication and Psychology, Ole founded in 2007 the first Danish coaching psychology education and is Director of the Coaching Psychology research Unit. At psychology Ole leads the coaching psychology graduate program for master psychology students, supervises and teaches clinical skills. He conducted the first Randomized Control Trial in Scandinavia evaluating the effectiveness of a brief cognitive behavioural coaching applied to first year university psychology students. In the field of coaching his most recent publications include: Spaten, O. M., Hansen, T. G. B. (2009). Should learning to coach be integrated in a graduate psychology programme? Denmark’s first try. Per-Olof Eriksson, Chartered Psychologist, has been working in the field of coaching since 1997 making him one of Sweden’s most experienced coaches delivering executive- and career coaching both to private and public sector clients. From 1994 to 2006 he was a lecturer and supervisor at Stockholm University, Department of Psychology and Nordic Retail College. He founded the Swedish group Coaching Psychologists in 2009 and is on the steering committee of the “1st International Congress on Coaching Psychology.

Dr Anna-Rosa le Roux has an extensive experience in Consulting and delivered projects at all levels of business in various industries (private, government and not for profit) in Africa and the Middle East. She has a broad academic background in Leadership in Performance and Change to doctoral level and is a licensed Industrial and Organisational Psychologist. Anna-Rosa co-represented South Africa in the First International Congress of Coaching Psychology in London (2010) and is co-convenor of the SA steering committee hosting the Southern Hemisphere leg, as well as member of International Steering Committee. She is currently serving on the executive of the Society for Industrial and Organisational Society (SIOPSA) in her capacity as Chair of the Interest Group of Coaching and Consulting Psychology (IGCCP). She is also serving on the executive of the Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP).

Dr Aletta Odendaal is a registered Industrial Psychologist, Chartered Human Resource practitioner and an academic. She has extensive experience in leadership and management development, executive coaching, psychological assessment, organisational behaviour as well as teaching and facilitation. She participated in the Global Convention of Coaching (GCC) as Chair of the working group on the selection of coaches and management of the coaching engagement process. She was President of the Society for Industrial and Organisational Psychology of South Africa (SIOPSA) for the period 2002 to 2006 and is currently serving her term as elected council member of the International Test Commission, Chair of People Assessment in Industry, member of the International steering committee and co-convenor of the SA steering committee hosting the Southern Hemisphere leg of the 1st International Congress of Coaching Psychology 2010-2011.

Dr. Arnon Levy is a clinical psychologist, psycho-anthropologist and life coach.  Currently  Arnon is conducting a predoctoral seminar at Bar Illan University and supervises doctoral students. Arnon  is a former chair of The Israel Association for Psychotherapy, and is the founder and chair of IACP - Israel Association for Coaching Psychology. Arnon is the founder, past academic consultant and director of the Coaching studying and training program in behavioral sciences at Tel Aviv University. He is the founder and CEO of CPA – Coaching Psychology Academywww.studycoaching.org designed to develop and teach academic programs of Existential Coaching Psychology. Arnon's works include the books: “The Prometheus Molds – an Introduction to an Evolutionary Psychology of the Self”, “Beyond the Empty Glace – Words and Images from the Psychological Clinic and beyond”, "The Spirit of Time" (In press).  

Dr Lisbeth Hurni studied psychology in Berne, Switzerland and Boston, USA and received her doctoral degree from the university of Berne in 1983. Postgraduate studies include career psychology, career counselling, coaching psychology, behavior therapy, organizational and personnel psychology and assessment. Dr Hurni is a well-known career specialist in Switzerland. She has been working as coaching psychologist since 1995 focussing on career coaching, developmental tasks in career transitions, career challenges such as combining family and career or career problems of the 50plus generation. Dr Hurni is consulting organizations in regard to career issues of young, mid-career and late-career professionals. Together with a group of psychologists, Dr Hurni founded the Swiss Society for Coaching Psychology and was Chair from 2006 - 2010 (SSCP, www.coaching-psychology.ch). She has been member of the founder-team which launched the Academy for Coaching Psychology within SSCP in 2008. Lisbeth was at the forefront of the development of a Swiss curriculum for coaching psychology that was accepted as a new specialization title in June 2010 by the Federation of Swiss Psychologists. Besides holding a specialization title for career psychology and personnel psychology FSP. Dr. Hurni recently received the new specialization title for coaching psychology FSP. Currently she is taking actions to prepare for a competence centre to foster coaching psychology in Switzerland in cooperation with SSCP. In 2011 Dr Hurni received honorary membership of the Swiss Society for Coaching Psychology, SSCP.

Josep Vilajoana Celaya  is a Chartered Psychologist, dean of the Col.legi Oficial de Psicòlegs de Catalunya (The Association of Psychologists in Catalonia, known as COPC) , second Vicepresident of the General Council of the Association for Psychologists in Spain (known as CGCOP), Patron of Psicofundación (Spain), Coordinator of the Divisions  of Health and Education in the CGCOP.  Health Psychologist. He is Patron to the Alzheimer Foundation in Catalonia. Previously he served on the governing board of COPC, as vice dean and spokesperson respectively. For over the last twenty years he has been a Counselling Psychologist at Serveis Socials d'Atenció Primària de l'Ajuntament (The Social Service of Primary Care for the Council of Barcelona). During his professional career within the public sector  he has advised teams of professionals in subjects such as drug dependency and  gerontology. He is a frequent speaker at professional forums both nationally and internationally on the subject of psychology. He was Chairman of the Committee of Honour at the 1st International Congress of Coaching Psychology- Spain. In addition he is a professional Coaching Psychologist in the field of health, as well as a researcher. He is a promoter of the international movement of Coaching Psychology in Spain.  In October of 2011 and as a representative of COPC he signed a Memorandum of Understanding together with Stephen Palmer, President of the International Society of Coaching Psychology (ISCP). He is Chairman for the Comissio Psicologia Coaching (Coaching Psychology Commission) from COPC, promoting research, coach accreditation and international relations.

Maite Sánchez-Mora Garcia is a  Chartered Psychologist, MISCP,  accredited Senior Coach AECOP , General Secretary  of  Col.legi Oficial de Psicòlegs de Catalunya (Spain) , member on the  board of Comissio Psicologia   Coaching (Coaching Psychology Commission) from COPC. Previously she was a member of the  managing board of: Secciò de Psicologia , Organitzacions i Treball (the department of Psychology within Work and Organisation) of  COPC and Asociación Española de Coaching y Consultoría de Procesos / European Mentoring & Coaching Council (AECOP/EMCC) in Catalonia-Spain. She works with organizations and provides individual coaching, coaching psychology and supervision services, in person and online training in Coaching Psychology and Coaching. Besides this, she is a member of the international steering committee of the International Congress of Coaching Psychology. She has over 14 years of experience working as a human resources manager at multinational companies of Pharmaceutical Industry (Gruppo Angelini) and Personal Care and Hygiene Sector Market (Procter & Gamble Group). She promotes and spreads the Coaching Psychology movement within Spain.  She was the director of the 1st International Congress of Coaching Psychology – Spain. It was the first meeting which united the international movement of Coaching Psychology and was held in Barcelona on October 11th and was led by COPC.

Zsófia Anna Utry MSc completed her graduate studies in psychology at the University of Glasgow in 2011. In early 2014 she started to explore whether there is a case for 'pluralistic coaching' inspired by Mick Cooper and John McLeod's work on pluralistic counselling and psychotherapy. Since then they collaborated on an introductory article on pluralistic coaching for The Coaching Psychologist with Stephen Palmer included, and they also co-authored a chapter in the second edition of the Handbook of Coaching Psychology (eds. S. Palmer and A. Whybrow).  Zsófia is currently based in Hungary and has been a member of the Hungarian Association for Coaching Psychology and the Hungarian Psychological Association's Coaching Psychology section since 2015. She received her Coaching Psychologist Licence from these organisations that year. She leads the Coaching Psychology Licence Groups's research group where they work on the adaptation of the adjudicated case-study method to assess coaching effectiveness. She coaches clients with goals and challenges related to career and professional development where she actively applies the pluralistic principles, further she has started to run workshops and participate as a speaker in coaching and coaching psychology local and international conferences.

She has specialized in executive and global leadership team coaching, and advising senior management on merging and shaping corporate cultures. Her clients are primarily Fortune 100 companies, but also include health care systems and professional service firms.
