About Me
I inirially trained and worked as an Educational Psychologist managing the psychological services in a London Borough. While working as an Educational Psychologist, I undertook further training at the Tavistock Clinic as a family therapist. While working with families, I realised that the same psychological frameworks used with families, could be used with other groups in organisations. This sparked of an interest in organisational psychology, and further training leading to a Masters in Occupational Psychology. I now work as an independent consultant . I am interested in maximising the development of individuals and coaching is an intervention I use frequently. My coaching work transcends organisational boundaries and involves young people, their families as well as business executives. I adapt adapt my coaching style to the clients learning preferences. My strategies are grounded in tried and tested psychological interventions.

About Me
I am a coach, coaching psychologist and supervisor (group and individual). I spend my working time in and around organisations during changing times - in particular with key individuals as they transform themselves and work with others to transform situations around them. I used to be a journalist and author; I still am an author and have written The Power of the Tale: Using Narratives for Organisational Success, contributed gestalt and ethics chapters to The Handbook of Coaching Psychology and Supervision in Coaching, and a variety of papers and presentations along the way, from 'What will you start when the stories stop?' to 'Sell your cleverness and buy bewilderment'. My practice is informed by the psychologies of narratives/ sense-making, complexity, gestalt and wisdom. Wisdom in corporate and coaching contexts is my current area of enquiry as an independent research-practitioner -- and a topic on which I am an invited speaker. I am director of Irving Allan change consultancy, mother of two young children, fan of the arts and crafts movement, BPS Ethics Committee member, and work with colleagues to raise the profile of social justice, environmental sustainability and spiritual fulfilment in working contexts. You can find more, if you're interested at http://tinyurl.com/jallanlinkedin. Of course, do get in touch if you're of an enquiring disposition and would like a coach or supervisor!
